Breastmilk Ice Cream, Anyone?

ben and jerry's logoI just stumbled upon this article at gmanews.tv today. PETA is enlisting the help of world famous ice cream maker, Ben and Jerry's, on creating breastmilk ice cream.  They wanted to reduce the suffering of cows and calves and at the same time, giving an healthier option for ice cream lovers all over.

They got the applauses from some orgs including La Leche League International, the oldest breast-feeding support organization and Ben and Jerry's owners and customers.

On the other had, I'm sure they're going to get a lot of raised eyebrows from other people too.

I, myself will be squirmish and hesitatant to eat human milk ice cream.  (so did the other people at my office which I asked, especially the males) But thinking about the nutritional benefits and the fact that I was breast-fed by my mom, myself, got me thinking otherwise. But still, i'm not so sure.

So what do you think, moms?  Breastmilk ice cream for public consumption?

Hmmm, I don't know about that. Kinda creepy for some reason. I am currently breastfeeding my newborn and it's kinda something I want to keep between her and I. Don't know about selling off the goods. And how many women would they need to do this anyways? Absurd..

i don't know. seems like a

i don't know.

seems like a bad move on peta's part. it'd be difficult for me to take them seriously after this ridiculous campaign.

gosh, that would really be a paradigm shift for me.  i'm a breastfeeding mom and definitely an advocate of breastfeeding but i have yet to be comfortable with the idea of taking in the milk of people i don't know.  but when you think about it, it's actually weird that we drink the milk of animals -- we just got so used to it growing up.

i wonder how they're going to gather enough breastmilk to produce enough ice cream to sell at a competitive price though.  i've been to a milk factory and have seen cows all line up, attached to the milking machines and now i'm imagining a row of mothers all taking their place :O  hahahaha!!! :)
