TIP: 5 Things We are Grateful For
Every night, before the kids go to bed, we lay down and talk about our day. We began this year with sharing every night, before sleeping, the five things each of us are grateful for that particular day.
The idea came to me when I was doing the same thing (gratitude journal) and I figured that it would help the boys think of things that they're happy about that day. It'll help them also realize that sometimes, some things may be small, but in fact, they're still HUGE because they're happy it happened to them.
Also, since they need to share FIVE things, it makes them think hard of the things that they are happy about.
Here are some of the things that they're thankful for and have shared with us:
- "cozy time" (for us, it's the time after bathroom stuff and before prayers and bedtime
- us, their parents
- meals we've shared
- places we've been to
It is a wonderful way to bond together! And in the process, it makes the boys realize how lucky they are (well, this is my goal...)
