The Happiest Baby on the Block
My sister showed this video to me and swore that when she tried it on her fussy one month old, he didn't cry when she put her back in his crib, which is all sorts of awesome.
I can deal with the swaddling and shaking, but the shushing right next to baby's ear seems a little too extreme for me. Although the doctor said that the sound mimics blood flow inside the mom's stomach, and it's as noisy as a vacuum cleaner inside the stomach.
The theory behind this is that instead of trimesters, we should also consider baby's first three months as part of his fetal development. So that makes it four trimesters? It doesn't sound right, but you get what I mean right?
Anyway, the swaddling, shaking, shushing etc. is meant to recreate the comfort inside the womb, soothing the baby right away.
I'm definitely trying this when Bean arrives.
