6,927 New Schools In School Reviews

Over the past two days I've imported 6,927 new private schools from all over the country onto our School Reviews section, a major addition to the 1,586 NCR schools already there, and a major item I can finally tick off my to - do list :)

New 'Top Schools' Page

Hi everyone, it's me again. This time with news re a feature I'm sure you'll all like.

I'm sure you've all noticed that you can vote schools at School Reviews not only via making a comment, but also assigning anywhere from 0 to 10 Stars.

If you've never noticed it before, it's become much more important now, because we now have a 'Top Schools' Page, featuring all the rated schools arranged from top to bottom:

Click http://mom.exchange.ph/topschools to get to it.

Comments Now Require Membership

Just a quick note to let everyone know I've decided to force people to sign up first before posting a comment. If you've been visiting the site with any regularity these past few months, I'm sure you'll understand why.

Doing this primarily has to do with the School Reviews feature, which (justifiably or not), makes people emotional about what other people think of the school their child is enrolled in or sometimes where they are enrolled or graduated themselves. On the one hand it's great to see such loyalty, but on the other, there are those whose method of defending their schools involve calling people with differing opinions names. At the onset I thought I'd let people do even that because it helps others gain a reflection on how well (or badly) their graduates turned out, which in turn helps us determine what kind of school it is. But after a while it became tiring to, day after day, police the site for silly comments. I realized as well that in effect, I'm doing the commenters a favor by sparing them from embarrassment via deleting their badly written opinions altogether.

Announcing: School Reviews

Good day to all. My name is Gabriel Mercado and I'm the admin of Mom Exchange. Today I would like to introduce a new feature called School Reviews (beta).

School Reviews is a list of all schools (NCR at the moment), divided by City or Municipality. Find your school on this page, give it from 1 to 5 stars, and leave a comment. It's that simple.

BBC TV Show Looking for Traditional Filipino Families

Mom Exchange was recently approached by a BBC TV Show for an interesting social experiment. The show, called Twentytwenty.tv, involves sending two British 'indulged' teenagers to a host family in different parts of the world to live normally with them for a period of time. Here's their Press Release for a more complete description:

DO YOU WANT YOUR FAMILY TO BE PART OF A TELEVISION SHOW BY THE BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION?

Do you believe in instilling good old-fashioned values, discipline and boundaries in your children? Can you give two British teenagers the chance to have some much-needed structure in their lives?
